SA Insurer Results Start Strongly

ALG Newsletter - SA insurer results start strongly. Santam Insurance, Discovery Limited and Sanlam have started the current results season strongly with HEPS increases of between 34% and 51%. Property & Casualty (P&C) results were a key driver of performance (we also discuss the Lancashire Insurance Group results), but strong increases in asset values and fees also played a constructive role. Lower bond yields were conductive, but the recent bond yield spike remains a risk. New business volumes remain under pressure, but lapse and mortality/morbidity experience showed improvements. We see positive read-throughs for other company results, especially on P&C, asset-based businesses and due to lower bond yield impacts. Reach out if you would like to find out more.
